Affiliated Organizations
A Women's Auxiliary of Gerald C. Daniel Post 37 formed on July 4th 2004 and they received their Charter on 1 January 2005. The Legion has every reason to be proud of its Auxiliary, which gained statewide recognition because of its programs of service. Auxiliary members are always anxious and willing to cooperate in every Legion activity. Auxiliary suspended charter in April 2016 due to lack of women to fill key Officer positions.
Squadron 37 Sons of the American Legion received their Charter on 1 October 2010 from National and was presented to the Squadron's 1st. Commander Mike Baker on 9 February 2011.
PATRIOTIC DAYS
MEMORIAL DAY is always an outstanding occasion in this community. The key memorial event takes place at the Northern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, the entrance is lined with American flags which Post members proudly put up each year and all the graves are decorated with flags on this National Holiday. The Memorial Service is jointly conducted with the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 10247, the Northern Nevada Veterans Coalition, this tradition is being carried on. If one might attempt to prophecy, in an historical account, Fernley's veteran organizations will carry on this tradition to its last man to keep MEMORIAL DAY sacred to the memory of our war dead.
